Re: La Celso
The foul on Deeney was before the handball!

Liverpool will beat us tonight.....probably.....if however the threat of a miracle looks on it must be comforting for Klopp and co that VAR will bail them out!

Re: La Celso
If the handball comes first then it voids everything after, so the penalty incident should be irrelevant.

If the foul came before the handball, then it should still count, although that would probably depend on the officials and how they'v decided to interpret the rules. i.e. is it a Liverpool or Man City player? Yes- penalty. No- no penalty.

Re: La Celso
The handball came first so that rules out the goal but an interesting point if the ball goes to a player who is fouled whether that decision should stand as a pen.
Handball so no goal ... foul tackle so it’s a pen.

Re: La Celso
Just watched motd2 VAR ruled out a Watford goal correctly for handball but in the same passage of play Harry Maguire clearly fouled Troy Deeney which is a penalty....oh silly me BIG CLUB home decision again

That decision set Bournemouth on the road to defeat, we need the sides around us to lose, so on this occasion I love VAR!

Re: La Celso
Of course the head of referees will go to Premier league games to see his men in action.
But would curious for it to be revealed which directors boxes he has sat in at various grounds.
Is he off to watch from Watford or Bournemouth next week?

Re: La Celso
Actually, on the Peter Crouch podcast this week they had Mike Dean as a guest and he said a few things about VAR and the process etc. Mildly interesting and worth listening to if anyone is that way inclined. Notably the longer a decision is pending for, it's almost certain it;ll be overruled. Mostly he was just a bit of a scouse cunt though.

Re: La Celso
If I thought that Mike Dean had set this all up to be a total failure then I would think he was a complete genius.

However, I suspect that he's not that smart

Re: La Celso
Why the fuck is the chief of referees in the directors box of one of the clubs in the league he's supposed to be impartially in charge of? Sums it up a bit really.

Besides any of that, the whole system is a fucking shambles. If there was any consistency whatsoever in the decision making process then it would be fine, but the 'rules' seem to depend on what the official watches the game feels like doing in the heat of the moment, regardless of what we are all told they should be doing. Funny how on the whole it's the same smaller clubs on the wrong end of all the stinkers, which the Liverpools and Man Citys are just reaping the benefit of the doubt every time.

Re: La Celso
They were caught cheating with the La Celso decision and had to own up but most decisions are less obvious. They have been getting away with it all season and can't be proved to be cheating because they are the judge. Watch spurs get favours for the rest of the season. Levy wants his stadium money back and they will do all they can do help him. Who needs to waste money on players when you've got VAR on your side. Expect to see more desperate decisions as they slide out of the top six.

BBC Sport at Old Trafford

I have just spotted Premier League referee's chief Mike Riley in the Old Trafford directors' box.

Riley is responsible for the way VAR operates in the top flight.

He has a few issues to grapple with at the moment.

Re: La Celso
VAR was brought in to manipulate the results. From a marketing/business point of view Tottenham and Man U must play in Europe. They can't control the ref effectively but now have a way to overrule him in favour of the team they want to win. Clear as day.

Re: La Celso
I felt sorry for Bournemouth. VAR was Burnley's 12th man and sucked all of the life from the Bournemouth players.

Re: La Celso
There you go, exactly what I said. When will they realise that there is no point in celebrating a goal now?

Manuel 12:17 Sun Feb 23
Re: La Celso
Above all else there is no point in celebrating a goal now. Even if it looks fine watching it live these cunts are taking the play back 2 or 3 minutes now looking for anything. It's a fucking disaster but fear it's here to stay.

eusebiovic 12:04 Sun Feb 23
Re: La Celso
VAR

And all because whinging managers always used the ref as an excuse to defect attention away from their players and poor preparation of the team.

Look where we are now...it's shite proper 24 carat shite - I hate football now

Which is why I've caught the Non-League bug

It's clearly edging it's way to generating enough dead time during (exciting moments of) games into which a commercial can be accidentally & deliberately inserted.

Toe Rag 11:59 Sun Feb 23
Re: La Celso
Hypothetical scenario but is there any chance that some teams who feel they’ve been unfairly targeted could end up taking the PGMOL or FA to court over it?

Imagine the outcome of games and seasons being decided in a court room!

What team with shit luck could you imagine that happening to....
